FlightView and Clear Channel: Latest Flight and Weather Info with Ads Airport Visitors Want to See

Tucson First to Launch New Service

03/23/2010

BOSTON, MA (March 23, 2010) - FlightView, the company trusted to bring real-time accurate and actionable flight-tracking information to airports and airlines, today announced the industry's first digital signage that merges the latest flight and weather data with targeted advertising - on eye-catching screens designed to stop travelers in their tracks.

Clear Channel Airports, a division of Clear Channel Outdoor and the world's largest airport advertising marketing firm, is FlightView's strategic partner in this new roll-out. The digital signage, which is constantly streaming the latest flight and weather information, launched at Tucson International Airport (TUS), which is widely considered one of the most customer-centric airports in the country.

"Travelers want information, and we want to provide innovative services like these full-screen information displays - that give travelers immediate information about where their planes are and whether they are likely to be on-time," said Richard J. Gruentzel, Tucson Airport Authority, Vice President of Administration & Finance/CFO. "Making it even better is that with the advertising, we can create these new services and defray costs with ad revenue."

TUS, which serves more than 3.6 million travelers annually, won a coveted top spot in JD Powers 2010 Airport Survey for customer satisfaction.

The digital signage attracts passenger interest and attention because they're constantly in motion, presenting current flight traffic and radar weather. Dozens of airports, including BWI, CVG and DAY, already rely on FlightView's visual displays, though without advertising. Airport managers report that passengers consistently gather around the screens, watching images of planes in transit.

"Air travelers are extremely attractive to advertisers," said Mike Benjamin, CEO of FlightView. "They're affluent, they're mobile, and they're hard to reach. Now we've got them captive, looking at information they value. Isn't that exactly where you want your ad to run?"

"There's also the potential of enticing delayed travelers with ads targeted to drive location-based purchases," Benjamin said. "That's the expertise - targeting hard-to-reach buyers - that Clear Channel brings."

FlightView's digital signage expands on the success of FlightView's web content, created for dozens of airports' and airlines' web sites.
