FlightView 1.6 for the iPhone Touches Down for the Holiday Travel Season

Flight-Tracking App Upgraded With New User-Requested Functionality

11/22/2011

BOSTON, MA (November 22, 2011) - Holiday travel just got a little easier for iPhone users. Just in time for the busiest travel season of the year, FlightView, the leader in day-of-travel information, announced the release of FlightView 1.6 for the iPhone, a more powerful and user-intuitive version of the market's top travel app.

Downloaded by more than one million users, FlightView has become the go-to flight-tracking app for leisure, business and holiday travelers alike. Version 1.6 for the iPhone comes loaded with even more functionality - making it easier than ever before for travelers and the people picking them up to instantly track flights, monitor airport delays, update friends and family and manage trips. New functionality in FlightView's updated app includes:

  • Enhanced flight tracker map: Travelers can now see their plane on the map at all times - even before takeoff and after landing. FlightView 1.6 also offers increased resolution for devices with retinal displays.
  • Expanded flight search: iPhone users can now search for and save flights up to six months in advance of scheduled departure.
  • More flight details: In addition to the plane's altitude and speed, travelers can view the aircraft type before boarding to get a sense of the plane's size and layout.
  • More intelligent user platform: FlightView's app will now preserve the user's preferred sort order of trips in the My Trips lists between sessions.

"The holidays - especially Thanksgiving - are a hectic time to travel, making it a particularly important time for us to provide our customers with the best, most up-to-date travel tools possible," said Mike Benjamin, CEO of FlightView. "Even beyond the holidays, our customers are always looking for easier ways to stay on top of their travel arrangements - and FlightView 1.6 makes this possible. Today's upgrades are all connected directly to user feedback that we have received from our loyal iPhone customers."

The release of FlightView's updated iPhone app arrives one month after the company's release of its upgraded Android app. The iPhone app - available now in the iTunes store - can be had in free, .99 cents and a $3.99 Elite version. FlightView Elite offers travelers advanced functionality, including driving directions to the airport, flight boards and 7-day weather forecasts.

Beyond leveraging flight-tracking apps, travelers looking to get a jump start on their holiday travel plans should check out FlightView's other free travel tools - including its user-friendly flight tracker website and mobile site - which offers travelers an instant and accurate way to track flights - and FlightView's airport information page, which offers travelers real-time updates on airport delays, 7-day destination forecasts, limo reservations and parking options.
